Tom was an excellent host, large room, huge bed, spotless bathroom. The house & garden were beautifully decorated & full of quirky animal sculptures. Breakfast in the morning was excellent & all very reasonably priced. Other B&Bs should stay there to see how it should be done.

Excellent spotlessly clean spacious room with all fitments that open & close without any hint of a struggle, mould & mildew free on-suite, all the little touches that would be expected of a 4/5* Hotel e.g. soaps, darning kit, shoe clean mitten, trouser press etc, etc. The food and service is second to none, Tom well done, keep up the good work, Regards, Tom Monaghan, stockport, UK.

Service was excellent and we were well catered for would definatley recommend and would use again.

We arrived on Sunday afternoon and were met by Tom Donagher. He welcomed us to his place, showing us our room and inviting us to use either of two sitting rooms, aquaited us to the dinning room and ask what time we should want breakfast? Then he told us to relax, along with telling us to check out the town witch was very close. We had a great time touring his town and returned to a warm, comfortable, and inviting Avlon house. this was the first place that had a telephone in my room, where i could finally call family in total comfort and with privacy. The whole house was immaculate and inviting, spacus rooms and tiled baths with powerfull showers and plenty of hot water, it was great! Breakfast was the best in all of Ireland and the 1st place that knew how to cook bangers! If you are traveling in the Carlow area, this is the place to stay, no doubt about it! We arrived late in the afternoon & we were welcomed by Tom who was very friendly & polite. After enquiring as to what we would like for breakfast & as to what time we would like our breakfast to be served Tom then carried our luggage up stairs & showed us to our room which can only be described as superb, from the king size bed to the fantastic shower in the en suite, which is exactly what you need to perk yourself up from a long trip. The room offered that home away from home experience & I must say the breakfast the following morning was delicious even do we were an hour early due to the change of time Tom was able to whip up a full breakfast in minutes. All in all I can not compliment Tom & Avlon House B&B enough & we will definitely stay there again in the future.

The rooms are large, the B&B offers king sized beds (for us Americans who are accustomed to them) and breakfast is a wonderful treat. Tom is a thoughtful host, always available to help with directions or suggestions for sightseeing. We’re very happy we found this lovely place!

The price is very fair considering the quality. Breakfast was very good as well though we were not accustomed to the typical “Irish breakfast” (a lot of meat). The location is in Carlow which is a busy little town with some good restaurants and sights.
The only (minor) disappointment was that the sitting rooms were closed during the nighttime hours. Thanks to Tom for a straight forward and comfortable visit.

The rooms were comfortable and the furnishings of very good quality. We run a 4 star guest house ourselves and we tend to be very critical if we have to stay in other places which generally seem to fall short in many areas but the facilities and service offered here are second to none. The size of the bedrooms is also a very important point as so often there is not enough space but there’s no problem here with lots of storage and seating and plenty of floor space. Highly recommended.

We had had some nice accomodation previously but this one was the best. The decor, comfort, facilities and breakfast were outstanding. There are two comfortable lounges one with a large TV and exceptional collection of DVDs for guest’s entertainment. Tom the host was a “GEM”. He was so helpful and efficient. He directed us to places of interest, pubs for lovely Irish music and restaurants for good evening meals. One not to miss!
